What is the Human Design System?
How to make decisions as yourself and experience the path of least resistance.
I was once asked: What fact known to you by virtue of your occupation would you like to become a public domain?
My answer was that I’d like human beings to know and understand that they influence and are influenced by one another all the time, just by being close to one another. That is, whether they know one another or are complete strangers, "penetrate" each other as if they were each other's lovers and have no idea that they are "penetrating" and are "penetrated" all the time.
So in a twisted, perverted way I was kind of glad about the novel phenomenon of ‘vaccine shedding’ becoming acknowledged. I thought to myself maybe through pain and discomfort, will finally drive human beings to acknowledge this underlying mechanism once and for all, and by knowing it, begin to transcend it.
Conditioning & The Genetic Imperative
The human body extends beyond its physical boundaries through an invisible electromagnetic shell - what we commonly call an aura. When two people come into proximity, these electromagnetic fields interact, creating a subtle yet profound exchange of information. This interaction occurs beneath our conscious awareness, yet influences us in ways we're only beginning to understand.
We typically understand conditioning through the lens of 20th century psychology, particularly the parent-child dynamics described in Jung/Freudian frameworks. However, this psychological model captures only one aspect of a far more fundamental biological mechanism.
Until the emergence of the Human Design System, humanity lacked a tool that could show us in an accurate, specific and logical way how human beings condition each other, and where this conditioning manifests in their bodies.

This conditioning process, or genetic relay of information, operates through our electromagnetic fields (auras) and follows the most fundamental law in the universe: the Law of Duality. At its core, conditioning represents an information exchange between a transmitter and a receptor. The genetic imperative, from a biological perspective, is remarkably simple - genes seek what they don't possess.
This mechanism drives evolutionary development. To create a vast gene pool and maintain high survivability rates, genes must combine with different genetic material, generating diverse mutations that potentially produce more resilient life forms. This universal law operates across all biological forms, ensuring species adaptation and survival.
In essence, conditioning provides the framework through which the genetic imperative manifests. We are naturally drawn to what we are not, serving a larger biological imperative.
The Human Mind is Attached to Our Genetic Receptors
Have you ever pondered about the fact that your life is the sum total of all the decisions that you have ever made, from the most minute (that may seem a banal decision), to the most important?
Have you ever pondered how many decisions do you make in one day? Where is this decision making process coming from?
Do you think that the way you form a decision is influenced by any external forces, such as other human beings in your life, or events that occur ?
Do you think your belief system has any influence on your decision making process?
The complexity of life often appears random to us - a vast tapestry of simultaneous actions whose patterns remain elusive to our conscious understanding. I call it the Pinball effect, where the individual is the pinball and Life is the sum-total of bounces from one thing to another, leaving us mystified about how we ended up with this person, that situation, this job, or that circumstance in our life.
Despite our best intentions, we find ourselves repeating patterns we sought to break. Our contemporary existence amplifies this challenge - we're bombarded with an unprecedented volume of information and stimuli, most of it superfluous, while our mind labors to extract meaning and make decisions.
But how do you know if that decision is correct for you? Do we deem that decision as “correct” because we receive positive feedback from others?
Is it when your decision is encouraged by a parent, a friend, a boss, etc. that you then feel was a good decision that was right for you?
Is it your morality that encourage or discourage that? How can you really know what is correct for you and what isn’t?
The Buddhist tradition offers profound insights into this mental machinery. Through centuries of investigating the mind's machinations, they identified 'craving' as the fundamental mechanism driving mental processes. These cravings generate responses to stimuli, manifesting as motivations to conceptualize, express, act, and form decisions that align with the original stimulus.
Importantly, these cravings aren't inherently problematic - they're natural manifestations of our genetic imperative. The challenge arises when the mind develops strategies to control outcomes in an attempt to satisfy these cravings, essentially trying to control Life itself.
So What is the Human Design System?
Human Design is the science of differentiation: the presentation of one’s (unique) genetic code in a way that is available to anyone.
The revolutionary nature of the Human Design System lies in its accessibility. One doesn't need to own a language such as genetics in order to be able to understand it. One doesn't need to be spiritual or dependent on a teacher, a guru, a master, a doctor, an organized group to be able to understand their genetic code; to understand who they are and how they were intended to operate.
At its core, the Human Design System presents this understanding through a visual framework - a pictograph called the Bodygraph. This visual representation transforms complex genetic information into an accessible map of human consciousness and behavior. While the Bodygraph contains layers of detailed information, its fundamental purpose is to help individuals understand the internal conflicts that may separate them from their authentic nature.

The Bodygraph reveals the dynamic interplay of our conscious and unconscious aspects, while mapping the points where we interact energetically with others. It provides insight into how we are affected by others and how we affect them - illuminating the mechanics of conditioning in our lives. This understanding becomes a practical tool, enabling us to engage consciously with these forces and, most importantly, to distinguish between our authentic nature and the conditioned patterns we've mistaken for our identity.
Human Design provides us with an Epigenetics tool that is logical, accurate and specific.
Epigenetics Tool
The Human Design System brings unprecedented precision to understanding the forces of conditioning in human interaction. This is quite profound because it enables one to investigate elements of conditioning that otherwise were not possible.
In scientific terms, this relates to Epigenetics - the study of how "outside" factors that are not part of one's genetic matrix can exhibit or inhibit gene expression, influencing biological and chemical processes in the human body. The implications of this understanding are far-reaching, particularly for investigating biological and psychological disorders, and advancing research into various human conditions.
The system provides a unique window into interpersonal dynamics: for the first time, we can observe what happens when two individuals' auric fields interact, revealing how their connections establish specific conditioning patterns. This understanding translates into practical strategies that help individuals recognize signposts of conditioning influence. Most significantly, it offers a straightforward decision-making approach that circumvents mental conditioning and aligns with one's authentic nature.
At its core, Human Design reveals the dance of genetic imprint through a system of genetic transmitters and receptors, conceptualized as a Key and Lock system. Consider this example: if I have a Key (transmitter) in a particular genetic disposition and you have a Lock (receptor) in that same disposition, our meeting creates an immediate information exchange through our electromagnetic fields.
This understanding empowers individuals to distinguish between what is authentically them and what is conditioned response. By mapping the areas where they receive conditioning (the Locks) and where they transmit it (the Keys), individuals gain access to a clear and logical system for understanding their intended mode of operation, independent of cultural imprinting received from birth.
Example
Let’s put everything together and illustrate it via example.
Consider Ron, who, like most of us, has been conditioned throughout his life to make decisions based on this craving mechanism. In Ron's case, his cravings are tied to the heart center - the energetic center associated with will power, self-esteem, courage and self worth. Ron's bodygraph reveals that he doesn't have consistent access to will power and self-esteem (shown as an 'open center', colored in white). This isn't a deficiency - it simply indicates a genetic receptor linked to his mind.
The implications are profound: through lifelong identification with his mind and its cravings for consistent self-worth, Ron has internalized a belief that he's not good enough, making it his "mission" to prove his worthiness. This belief has become an essential part of his psyche and decision-making process. The conditioning dynamic becomes visible when Ron meets his friend Josh, who has a genetic transmitter (key) in that same area of will power. During their interaction, Ron absorbs this frequency, triggering chemical processes that generate a surge of willful sensation.

This pattern illustrates one of the most predominant dynamics in human society - the manifestation of activity and behavior that is "manufactured" based on borrowed will from heart center defined people. Energized by this borrowed willpower, he suddenly feels capable of conquering the world. This amplified frequency creates an urgent need to express or act in ways that prove his worth.
So Ron exclaims to Josh loudly: “I am going to train to be a triathlete,” or "I am going to quit smoking tomorrow,” or “I will promise to bring you 10 people to do your bidding,” - all kinds of mental possibilities in the form promises and commitments his mind injects upon him to portray his ability to prove himself. The morning after such encounters, when Ron reflects on his declarations and promises, reality crashes in: "What have I done, I have no impetus, nor will to even begin training/quit smoking/call those 10 people, I promised Josh."
This initiates a vicious cycle of distortion, breeding negative feelings and self-deprecating thoughts that eventually crystallize into self-hatred - a pattern that has become a predominant disease on this planet. The cycle perpetuates itself as Ron's mind, unaware of the underlying conditioning mechanism, desperately seeks to recapture yesterday's sensation. In response, his mind develops strategies that eventually dominate his decision-making, accepting only choices it believes will restore that feeling of will power and self-esteem.
As time passes, Ron becomes increasingly conditioned to "do" and "act" accordingly. His life becomes defined by this chase for will power, self worth and self-esteem. Every major life choice - partners, friends, vocation - stems from these cravings, guided by his mind's pursuit of that reward.
This state of bondage, as the ancients called it, removes Ron's freedom. He becomes controlled by his mind's desperate search for the next "fix" to his cravings. While he occasionally finds the validation he seeks, this pursuit represents a fundamental misalignment with his true purpose. Ron's authentic path isn't about chasing self-worth or falling into conditioning's trap of imbalance. He was never meant to live in a constant state of trying to prove himself to others.
The prevalence of this distortion is striking. How many of us get up in the morning feeling unworthy? Not good enough?
The statistics are revealing: about 70% of the population has an open heart center, experiencing inconsistent feelings of self-worth. This vast majority makes decisions based on this conditioning, perpetually chasing opportunities their mind believes will grant them worth and power, while missing their authentic life path.
Scale this pattern to billions of people experiencing this daily struggle, and we understand why the ancients called Earth "The planet of suffering". This pervasive distortion stems from the craving mechanism that warps our life experience. How familiar is the pattern: we attain what we thought we wanted, only to realize it wasn't truly our desire at all.
Human Design identifies this phenomenon as the Not-Self - what esoteric traditions have termed the Shadow. Returning to Ron's example, the system reveals how operating under conditioning initiates a cascade of consequences: strategies become actions, actions become habits, and habits crystallize into an identity constructed around proving self-worth. This frequency distortion occurs when the mind, attached to our open centers, usurps authority in decision-making, creating what Human Design precisely maps as the Not-Self.
The system's brilliance lies in its ability to show the biological locations where these dynamics play out. For Ron, pursuing not-self strategies impacts specific organs: the heart, stomach, gall bladder, and thymus gland - the physical sites where will power, self-esteem, and sense of worth frequencies manifest.
Consider the implications: with 70% of the population having inconsistent access to will power, incorrect operation creates enormous pressure on these organs - pressure they weren't designed to handle. It's no coincidence that heart-related diseases lead mortality statistics. Every promise made from borrowed will, every commitment driven by the need to prove oneself, compounds this physical strain.
This understanding illuminates what our culture calls Ego, overcompensating, and over-committing - all manifestations of contrived frequency stemming from openness rather than authentic definition. The result is distortion that generates resistance in one's life.
The History of How The Human Design System Came To Be
Human Design came into the world in 1987. The system emerged through Robert Allan Krakauer, later known as Ra Uru Hu, during a mystical experience with what he described as "The Voice" spanning eight days on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza.
Notably, among the mystical revelations received was information about neutrinos bearing mass - a fact only scientifically substantiated in the 1990s. For the following 24 years, until his passing in March 2011, Ra Uru Hu dedicated himself as a messenger and teacher of this knowledge, developing what is known today as the Human Design System.
While he established organizations as official 'focal points' for studying the system and training analysts and teachers, it's important to note that individuals approaching Human Design are NOT dependent on these organizations to begin their deconditioning / alignment process. These organizations exist to provide education, support mechanisms and further guidance.
The Human Design System is a Synthesis
The system's unique power lies in its synthesis of several ancient and modern systems:
Astrology
I Ching
Hindu Brahmin chakra system
Kabbalah
Biology
Physics
This synthesis transcends its component parts, creating something entirely new. It is not any single system in isolation - not Kabbalah, I Ching, the Hindu/Brahmin chakra system, Astrology, Biology, or Physics. Rather, their integration creates a whole that comes alive, offering a toolset for individuals to understand their intended mode of operation.
Beginning Your Human Design Journey
The journey typically begins with a Human Design analyst reading. These trained professionals translate and synthesize one's bodygraph information into practical keynotes, delivering consistent information regardless of the analyst - only the presentation style varies. This standardization ensures the information remains unmanipulated.
Human Design is a tuning fork for the individual to bring forth a natural state of alignment.
The system's applications are universal. Wherever we juxtapose Human Design - whichever field we examine through its lens - it provides insights into otherwise invisible underlying mechanisms. This versatility makes it truly a master key.
Applications:
Health and Personal Empowerment
While billions of dollars are invested in research linking decision-making to human genetics and optimal health, Human Design offers direct access to this information without dependence on institutions or excessive costs. The Bodygraph provides specific and accurate insights into the underlying causes of diseases and ailments - a precision that contrasts sharply with the shot in the dark approach often seen in institutionalized medicine. This represents a practical alternative to the costly pursuit of personalized medicine in modern science.Comprehensive Personal Analysis
The Human Design chart reveals detailed information about susceptibility to disorders, hereditary diseases, dietary requirements, and environmental factors that enhance cognition and well-being. Most remarkably, this wealth of information - normally requiring expensive tests and expert consultations - becomes accessible through a simple chart that can be freely downloaded. This accessibility exemplifies the system's magic: it provides quantum information through an absolute framework, truly functioning as an epigenetics tool that reveals the interconnectedness between all dimensions of existence.Organizational Optimization
Human Design excels as a tool for job placement and human organization. Consider this example: an individual with defined leadership genetics might create unintended friction when placed in an entry-level position, naturally expressing their leadership tendencies among peers. Rather than attributing this to personality conflicts, Human Design reveals the underlying mechanics, enabling organizations to place individuals in positions that align with their natural capacities. This systematic approach eliminates unnecessary tension and optimizes both individual and group dynamics.Child Development Revolution
The system offers particular significance for child development. It provides parents with precise guidance for nurturing their children according to their true nature, eliminating guesswork. Critically, the system reveals that neural expansion should continue until age seven, contrary to the typical shutdown at 3.5 years. This insight suggests that raising children according to their genetic blueprint could unlock unprecedented cognitive potential, leading to enhanced awareness and contribution capabilities in adulthood.Relationship Dynamics
Human Design illuminates the nature of relationships - romantic, professional, and parental. It provides insight into attraction patterns, potential challenges, and group dynamics. For groups of three or more, it reveals how conditioning elements interact, enabling better organization and understanding of mutual influences.
Above all, Human Design exists to serve the individual.
Conclusion
Human Design as a Tuning Fork: Through the bodygraph, the system reveals our inherent dichotomy: the interplay between our conditioning (genetic receptors that are open) and our fixed nature (genetic transmitters). This understanding provides individuals the potential to align their decision-making with their genetic consistency.
A Stand-Alone Knowledge System: The system's universality lies in its independence: one doesn't need external dependencies to understand their intended function in life. Neither invented nor theoretical, it transcends individual ownership while belonging to everyone, synthesizing esoteric and exoteric wisdom from all cultures into a unified whole.
A Manual for Self-Mastery: Just as a car manual guides optimal vehicle maintenance, Human Design reveals our operating instructions. The parallel is striking: while we readily accept the need to understand how to maintain our vehicles, we've remained largely ignorant about our own optimal functioning. This ignorance stems not from inability, but from lack of accurate tools for self-understanding and self-knowledge.
The system provides a precise roadmap for making decisions aligned with our unique genetic code, offering the path of least resistance. Misalignment manifests as resistance in our lives - incorrect relationships, vocations, and various physical and psychological problems, exemplified by Ron's lifelong pursuit of worthiness.
Birthright of Differentiation: Human Design asserts our fundamental right to self-knowledge and purpose fulfillment. As empirical knowledge, it demands personal experimentation and validation. Each individual must substantiate its principles through direct experience with genetic correctness.
Transcending Survival: Perhaps most revolutionary is the system's assertion that survival need not dominate our consciousness. Our biological infrastructure contains capacities far beyond mere survival, yet our mind's limited bandwidth restricts our operational consciousness. When we align with our genetic nature, we unlock the potential to transcend basic survival mechanisms and access our fuller human capacity.
Addendum: A Personal Note
In observing our current trajectory, we appear to be approaching the culmination of a cycle that began millennia ago. This ending manifests across all dimensions, from microcosm to macrocosm. Between the dissolving old and emerging new lies a transition phase characterized by destruction and instability, ushering us into a reality where uncertainty becomes our only certainty.
The timing of Human Design's revelation appears significant: it offers some of us the opportunity to reconnect with a long-dormant internal navigation system. For thousands of years, our genetic imperative as a species led us to rely on external authorities - gods, priests, parents, teachers, doctors. This era of external dependence is drawing to a close.
Human Design illuminates our current transformation as the shedding of our tribal genetic marker - the foundation of human society for millennia. This dissolution manifests in the breakdown of trust, loyalty, support systems, and morality. In their place emerges an intensely individual cycle centered on personal survival - where internal integration becomes crucial for navigating the shift.
The moral genetic foundation has served as humanity's insurance policy, establishing boundaries between permitted and forbidden behaviors. This value system, refined over millennia, underlies our entire legal framework, whether secular or religious, building upon foundational moral laws.
The breakdown of this tribal foundation manifests in our current global phenomena: schism, identity crisis, polarization, (neo)racism, and pervasive loss of trust. This erosion affects all dimensions of life - interpersonal relationships, institutional trust, family structures, and organizational ethics. Perhaps most significantly, the distinction between truth and lie becomes increasingly nebulous, making others' motivations increasingly opaque.
This challenge intensifies with our technological information overload. The mind struggles to distinguish between fertile and sterile information, between reality and surreality. As humans remain deeply conditioned to identify with their minds and rely on them for decision-making, anxiety becomes endemic. The confused, anxious mind responds by attempting to control its destiny - a form of homogenization that offers a glimpse of our approaching cycle.
Consider the implications: without morality as an insurance policy, without shared agreements on right and wrong, without trusted authorities, how does one navigate life safely? How does one discern appropriate relationships, identify allies, or understand others' motivations when truth becomes increasingly obscured?
Human Design reveals that the mind was never intended as our decision-making authority. Connected to our genetic receptors rather than our consistent nature, it lacks the design capability to determine what's truly correct for us.
This system emerged to provide individuals with practical empowerment by connecting them with their dormant inner authority - a unique internal compass long suppressed by our conditioning to trust external authorities. This inner authority represents our body's consciousness, designed for life navigation. Remarkably, each individual possesses a unique decision-making blueprint, fundamentally connected to their mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
Becoming Our Own Healers
As institutionalized medicine falters, our path to perfected health increasingly depends on our connection to inner authority and alignment with our design. The approaching cycle of institutional breakdown demands clear, simple strategies for preventing unwanted habits from developing into dis-ease - moving away from costly, sophisticated treatments that perpetuate dependence on others.
I speak from direct experience. My encounter with chronic disease brought me to my knees, yet commitment to living my design and following my inner authority profoundly affected my recovery and healing process. After nine years of living my design, I've become a vocal advocate for self-healing, particularly given our medical institutions' inefficiencies (What Covid-19 Has Exposed About The Science of Medicine?) The revolutionary insight is that we don't need exhaustive knowledge to experience perfected health.
The Mind Must Be Freed
My healing journey revealed that almost all negative neurological symptoms disappeared through radical lifestyle changes. Paradoxically, the dis-ease became my greatest teacher. Every crisis contains a seed of transformation - an opportunity to shed the "old." I discovered that what I had considered a "correct" and "healthy" lifestyle was far removed from my body's true genetic design and rhythm.
Through pain, uncertainty, discomfort and helplessness, I learned to let my body set the pace - perhaps my most profound discovery.
Our recent technological advancement has created a vast information reservoir, fostering the illusion that increased knowledge equals increased health control. This has led to disconnected information: isolated conclusions overwhelming the mind with endless to-do lists. The ritual of supplement regimens and endless health content consumption primarily serves as placebo, quieting the anxious mind with false security. That this has become our new religion reveals our profound disconnection from ourselves.
Our bodies possess supreme intelligence never designed to depend on the mind's limited consciousness. We weren't created to maintain health through endless mental checklists. This isn't an indictment of supplements specifically, but rather of our misplaced focus. No amount of vitamins or minerals can substitute for correct bodily operation and consciousness. True health emerges when we align with our unique genetic code, eliminating the need for external supplements.
The Human Design system's essence lies in freeing the mind from its control compulsion. It offers practical tools to bypass the mind, accessing the subconscious inner authority that prevents accelerated physical deterioration.
What is inner balance?
It manifests in the resolution of our dysfunctional mind-body relationship. Inner balance emerges when the passenger accepts the vehicle. It appears when Mind lives in peace with Body, accepting transition and transitoriness as fundamental law.
Remember: this imbalance is chemical in nature. The global discord reflects our internal chemical disruption. External changes alone cannot address this larger movement or alter our chemical imbalance. Only committed living according to our design can equalize our internal tensions. These are pure mechanics. You cannot force mind's obedience or alliance - you can only strip its ruling power, allowing it to become the treasure it was meant to be.
Intelligence is Limited Until the Vehicle is Perfected
Consider this fundamental truth: every intelligence remains limited until its vehicle achieves perfection. This transcends conventional measures of intelligence or relative smartness. The real potential emerges only when the vehicle operates correctly. When body and mind exist in perpetual disconnect, when mind dominates life, we remain blind to our true purpose. We cannot access the cognitive resources inherent in our uniqueness, nor navigate life's flow without resistance. This is simply mechanics.
Seeing Out of Our Own Awareness
Our purpose is seeing - not through veils of conditioning or others' authority, but through the purity of our own awareness and inner authority. The depth of possible perception is profound, with layers of insight available in each moment.
My deepest understanding of intellectual potential reveals that form imperfection blocks human intelligence from transcendence. This limitation exists not because of insufficient knowledge, but because the mind's capacity to process information remains constrained by the vehicle's condition. Everything returns to the Form principle.
Know this: your form will guide you away from resistance. Your form ensures survival. Through this alignment, you gain the opportunity to truly see. As we enter this intensely individual cycle, embracing the sacred nature of inner purity and true self-authority represents humanity's greatest revolution.
Honor the form; it will change your life.
This was an amazing exploration - it's like my life's work, tied into a tidy bundle (I've studied all the syncretic forms which make up Human Design).
I like your writing style, too. Someone else who has explored the spiritual side of what has happened to humanity is an Aussie, MaMu, "Be Your Own Doctor." He focuses on Advaita Vedanta, a philosophy which arises out of Hindu & Yogic thought - but - y'all have very similar 'tudes on how we are to get through this.
Thank you.
